Heather Frost

Founder, Head of School

Lead Montessori Guide

Heather Frost (she/her) is a dedicated Montessorian with a deep passion for fostering a love of learning in her community. As the founder of Meadowsweet Montessori, she has realized a long-held dream of creating a nurturing and dynamic educational environment for both children and adults. Her journey to founding the school was shaped by her work with Capucine Montessori, a Wildflower School, and joining the Wildflower Blooms Cohort—experiences that provided both the inspiration and the pathway to bring her vision to life.

Heather holds a bachelor's degree in psychology from Wells College and a master's degree in early childhood education from the University of Hartford. She earned her Montessori credentials for Primary-age children through the Association Montessori Internationale (AMI) at the Montessori Training Center Northeast. With extensive teaching experience, she has served as a classroom assistant, a lead Montessori guide, a Kindergarten Outdoor Science Lab instructor, and has also supported school administration through substitute roles at a Wildflower school.

A native of the area, Heather has returned to raise her children close to their grandparents, in a place near her own childhood home. She is thrilled to bring her passion for Montessori and early childhood education back to her roots, especially to a community where no Montessori schools currently exist—an exciting and meaningful endeavor.

Outside of her professional work, Heather finds joy in nature—whether hiking, running, identifying wildflowers, or adventuring with her wife, Lillian, their energetic twin two-year-olds, and their dog, Bubbles.

Tania Zahan

Lead Montessori Guide

Tania (she/her) is a Montessori certified teacher with a master’s degree in Early Childhood Education with a Montessori concentration. She earned her undergraduate degree from Stony Brook University (SUNY) and completed her graduate studies at the University of Hartford in Connecticut.

Tania has been working in early childhood education for over 10 years, and chose this profession because she truly enjoys supporting children as they grow, explore, and develop confidence and independence. She values creating a calm, respectful, and engaging learning environment where each child feels seen and encouraged to love learning.

Outside of the classroom, Tania is a proud mother of two sons, Toron and Tihan, and she enjoys spending time with her family. In her free time, she loves traveling, camping, and cooking.

Micah Genung

Administrative Assistant

Micah (they/she) is a Binghamton local, dedicated to community care and mutual aid. Their life philosophy is Service = Joy! Micah can be found serving food, hugs and radical empathy to all those around them, particularly our unhoused neighbors. For two years Micah served as the Assistant Coordinator for the “Buy Nothing Market”, a monthly event distributing donated goods to community members in need, entirely free.

Micah attended St. John’s University, majoring in Journalism. Subsequently they gained over 15 years of experience, serving as administrative assistant in a variety of settings: medical, manufacturing, property maintenance, film production, stage managing, food service, community center, and non-profit programming.

Most recently Micah worked as the Logistics & Outreach Coordinator for MANNA of the Southern Tier, a program of the Broome County Council of Churches. In this role Micah built relationships with over 50 local pantries & agencies, delivering prepared meals, made from rescued foods. Micah’s passion for social equity helped deliver over 1000 meals a week to Broome County’s most vulnerable residents.

Outside of work you’ll find Micah traveling with her daughter, camping, hiking and attending live music events. They serve as a volunteer with Binghamton Food Rescue, at the NoMa Community Center, and Binghamton Tenants Union street outreach crew.
